OKLAHOMA CITY -- If you bought a Powerball ticket on Sunday, you noticed a major change that just went into effect. The ticket price doubled from $1 to $2. At Paul's Conoco on Hefner Rd. and May Ave., they've been preparing their customers for several days for the change.
"We wanted to make sure everybody understood and was prepared to know all the changes so that they wouldn't be surprised," clerk Laura Ennis said.
Ennis says overall the reaction from her regulars has not been good.
"Not favorable. They say I might be buying a lot less tickets or maybe buy a different game," she said.
The other lottery games are still just $1.
The Powerball ticket now costs $2 instead of $2, but the multiplier is still $1.
Lottery officials say the chances of winning are going up as well.
The Powerball numbers are being reduced from 39 to 35.
