The Smokin' Red Dirt BBQ Cook-Off and Jazz Stroll comes to downtown Enid this weekend in Enid.
The event is a sanctioned Kansas City Barbecue Society state competition, as well as a community celebration.
The event will be held Friday, April 15, 2011 with a gala reception for the competing cooks and sponsors and a People's Choice event will be held for the general public.
Barbecue ribs will be served to the public by many of the competing chefs as they vie for thousands of dollars in prize money.
The jazz stroll will be held Friday evening and visitors can stick around for a fireworks celebration. Live music will be played at over 18 different venues in the downtown area.
The main event will be held on Saturday, April 16, 2011 as the actual KCBS competition kicks off with a variety of cooks competing in a number of categories. Visitors can browse through the cook-off booths while snacking on ribs and barbecue sandwiches from over 50 food vendors.
There will also be a youth art show, which will be held both Friday evening and during the day on Saturday at the Cherokee Strip Conference Center. The show will feature all types of arts and a number of children's activities to entertain the little ones.
Admission is free and open to public.
The event will be open from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday evening and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday.
The location will be at 723 W. Main St. in Enid
