In 1922 a young man, Lloyd Frazee, came to Enid from a family farm in Missouri seeking a better life. With his savings he started Frazee Furniture Company in a rented building at 122 North Independence. In the next two years the business would grow and move to 123 W Maine, then to 119 E Broadway where for more than twenty years Mr. Frazee conducted business in the then-thriving farming, manufacturing, and rail economy of the Enid area. It was also during this time Frazzee Furniture become The Garfield Furniture Company.
The community was good to Garfield Furniture and in 1943, Mr. Frazee bought the Gensman Hardware Building, our current location at 205 South Grand Ave. During the post World War II years, the business grew as son Jim Frazee had rejoined the store after serving in the U.S. Navy. During the "oil years" of the '70s and '80s, Garfield Furniture again expanded north to 123 South Grand Avenue where the Relaxation Center was opened. This offered Northwest Oklahomans the largest selection of reclining chairs and relaxation products in the state of Oklahoma. Also at this time, Russ Frazee, grandson to the founder, rejoined the corporation after earning his degree in advertising and home decorating, thus providing Northwest Oklahomans with four generations of home furnishing experience. Now in the 21st Century, the fourth generation of Frazee furniture family, Josh, adds youth and style to your furniture shopping experience.
